Postpartum Support

A Parents Paradise offers postpartum doula support for those struggling after childbirth.

The return from the experience of birth may (and most of the time does) take longer then just the six weeks of physical healing. This is when postpartum doula support can be of great help.

One day you were a maiden free to do what you wanted when you wanted. Now you are a mother responsible for human life. You change in every way possible. You will adjust, re-adjust, and trying to make since out of how your life has changed so much. For some of us this means learning how to adjust to getting more support from family and friends, and believing in our parenting abilities.

Some of us have more difficulty than others, and for some of us, we don't feel like ourselves we feel like we are out of sync. You may not understand why you feel so unhappy or so irritated with everything around you.

For those of you sweet mothers out there who are struggling I have been where you are. I battled Postpartum Depression for almost two years. I kept on thinking I was tough and I would overcome it by myself. Usually women are so caring and loving to other people, we would jump at the chance to help anyone out, but when it comes to ourselves, we have a hard time asking that of others. Moms please don't suffer alone. Please seek out help.

The reasons why I struggled so much was that I lacked knowledge from doctors on the issue. Medications did not work and I expected to much out of myself and I did not ask for enough help. There is help in our area, all it takes is a little research to find the right help.

Moms if you are suffering and you need someone to help you figure out how to get help, please don't hesitate to contact me. I will do my best to be a tool for you. As someone who suffered way longer than she should have, I have a great deal of compassion for all mothers out there who are in need of more support.

I have been wondering a lot about why it is that so many women struggle with this, could it be our hormones are off? Could that be why some medications make things worse? I had a hard time taking medications they always made me feel uncomfortable. I tried natural things over and over again. Finally I found a concoction that really worked for me. That is the hard part about PPD is that it may take some time to find something that works just right for you. It is easy to get discouraged and to feel like you shouldn't even try.

I offer postpartum support groups and they can be a big help. It is a very safe space were no one is judging you. No one is giving you advice. It just a place to unload some of the burdens, we moms tend to want to carry alone. It is a very powerful thing to just be able to speak your concerns and frustrations in a safe space and that is the biggest hope for our groups.
